Preseason Schedule Rankings

For now, I'm only looking at this year's schedule strength, which is based on this year's schedule but last year's results. No team's ranking in schedule strength is affected by its own performance.

So which teams and conferences have the toughest opponents in 2005?

1. North Carolina
2. Oregon State
3. Georgia Tech
4. Arkansas
5. Florida State
6. Arizona
7. Kansas
8. Stanford
9. Louisiana State (LSU)
10. Kentucky
11. Texas Tech
12. Georgia
13. Oklahoma State
14. Ohio State
15. Mississippi
16. Oregon
17. Southern California (USC)
18. Maryland
19. Northwestern
20. Colorado
21. Florida
22. Calif-Los Angeles (UCLA)
23. Tennessee
24. Nebraska
25. Missouri
26. Virginia Tech
27. Texas
28. Auburn
29. North Carolina State
30. Clemson
1. Big 12
2. Atlantic Coast (ACC)
3. Southeastern (SEC)
4. Pacific 10
5. Big 10
6. Big East
7. Conference USA
8. (independent teams)
9. Mountain West
10. Western Athletic (WAC)
11. Mid-American (MAC)
12. Sun Belt
Players lost and performances unforeseen will certainly affect the actual schedule strength as the 2005 season progresses, but until enough data comes in to accurately measure the 2005 season, I have to use 2005 schedules with 2004 data, and this is how it looks. Interesting, yes?
